Wis. Firefighter Injured After Saving Family

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee firefighter was recovering Saturday after rushing to save a family from a house fire near 15th and Clarke streets. Several crews responded to the burning home at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Originally firefighters thought children were trapped inside, but one resident helped everyone get out of the building. Residents said the fire started on the first floor, but investigators are still working to verify the cause.

Several crews responded to the burning home at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Originally firefighters thought children were trapped inside, but one resident helped everyone get out of the building.

Residents said the fire started on the first floor, but investigators are still working to verify the cause.

Firefighters said there were no working smoke detectors in the building.
