-- Officials with the Johnstown firefighter's union have confirmed that the city's downtown fire station is closed through Saturday. Randy Novosel, president of Johnstown Firefighters Local 463, said the two platoons on duty through Saturday have members who are off work due to injuries. In addition, because of city rules, Novosel said the members can't be replaced by overtime firefighters, so the truck at the downtown station won't be used.

Officials with the Johnstown firefighter's union have confirmed that the city's downtown fire station is closed through Saturday.

Randy Novosel, president of Johnstown Firefighters Local 463, said the two platoons on duty through Saturday have members who are off work due to injuries.

In addition, because of city rules, Novosel said the members can't be replaced by overtime firefighters, so the truck at the downtown station won't be used.

Union officials said this could be a preview to the expected layoffs of four firefighters later this month.
