A Baltimore firefighter sustained injuries after falling out of a fire truck that was rounding a corner Tuesday afternoon, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The firefighter with Truck Company No. 12 was in the cab of the truck and had his seat belt fastened when he fell out of the truck while it was en route to a reported fire, department spokesman Kevin Cartwright told the newspaper.

An investigation is underway to determine how he fell out of the truck.

The firefighter suffered injuries, including lacerations, to his head and elbow and was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center as a precaution.

His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Fire crews found no fire when they arrived at the building on Liberty Heights, just smoke from an air conditioner in the building.
