LAKEWOOD, Colo. --

A West Metro firefighter has resigned amid allegations of sex acts at a fire station.

“There was a full investigation, because we take those allegations so seriously," said West Metro Fire Protection District spokeswoman Michelle French. “Before we got to the disciplinary actions on the firefighter, he resigned.”

No criminal investigation was conducted because and criminal charges were not expected to be filed, she said.

No information was released regarding how long the firefighter had worked for West Metro, or what fire station he was assigned to, because the issue is considered a personnel matter, French said.

The firefighter's resignation was submitted earlier this month. French said since it was a personnel matter, she could not speak on what the allegations were. She said that there was no concern for public safety.
