Fire Crews Contain Baltimore Tugboat Fire

BALTIMORE -- City fire crews brought a one-alarm tugboat blaze under control Monday afternoon. It occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of Key Highway in south Baltimore. "It was reported that a fuel line broke, which added to the fire," said Baltimore City Fire Department spokesman Kevin Cartwright. He said firefighters used foam to control the fire. The occupants of the boat were able to escape without injury.

City fire crews brought a one-alarm tugboat blaze under control Monday afternoon.

It occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of Key Highway in south Baltimore.

"It was reported that a fuel line broke, which added to the fire," said Baltimore City Fire Department spokesman Kevin Cartwright. He said firefighters used foam to control the fire.

The occupants of the boat were able to escape without injury.

The fire was brought under control in about 44 minutes. Fifty-eight firefighters battled the blaze.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
