Pa. Firefighter Accused of Copper Theft

NEW EAGLE, Pa. -- A Washington County volunteer firefighter is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his own department. Police say 25-year-old Michael Griest of New Eagle stole $40,000 worth of items from the New Eagle Fire Department. Investigators told Channel 4 Action News they received a tip that Griest was stealing copper and brass items. Police also arrested Griest's girlfriend, 22-year-old Tiffany Gola, of Bentleyville.

A Washington County volunteer firefighter is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his own department.

Police say 25-year-old Michael Griest of New Eagle stole $40,000 worth of items from the New Eagle Fire Department.

Investigators told Channel 4 Action News they received a tip that Griest was stealing copper and brass items.

Police also arrested Griest's girlfriend, 22-year-old Tiffany Gola, of Bentleyville.

Gola is accused of helping Griest with the thefts.
