DENVER --

A young boy was among three people pulled from a burning home in Southwest Denver early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to a home on South Eliot Street near West Virginia Avenue shortly after 4 a.m.

Denver Fire Lt. Phil Champagne told 7NEWS that firefighters had pulled two women and a young boy from inside the home. He said emergency crews had worked on all three to "give them the best chance at survival." Champagne said the three victims were rushed to the hospital in "very serious condition."

Firefighters said they received conflicting reports of three to four people trapped in the house. Champagne believed one man may have escaped the home on his own.

7NEWS was first on the scene. Reporter Eric Lupher described the scene as frantic.

Champagne said that fire investigators were at the scene. Due to the tremendous amount of damage to the home, he expected it would take them a while to determine the cause of the fire.
