An armed man attempted to hijack a Lincoln fire truck after crews responded to the scene of a crash he was involved in Wednesday afternoon, according to The Burlington Free Press.

Crews responded to the one-vehicle crash shortly before 3 p.m. on Ripton Road.

Police later found that the driver, Michael Frnolo, had been driving the 1989 Toyota 4Runner at the time of the crash and fled on foot while his two passengers remained at the scene.

During the investigation, one of those passengers, Trevor Burton, climbed into a fire truck and started it up, threatening to drive away.

Firefighters talked him out of the apparatus and a trooper took the gun from him.
