Plattsburgh Fire Claims N.Y. Cider Mill and Winery

Plattsburgh, NY -- Crews are back on the scene of a fire that happened late last night on Route 9 in Plattsburgh. Smoke is still seen coming from what is left of the structure at Elfs Farm Cider Mill and Winery. Route 9 was blocked off at around 10:00PM when the fire started last night.

Crews are back on the scene of a fire that happened late last night on Route 9 in Plattsburgh.

Smoke is still seen coming from what is left of the structure at Elfs Farm Cider Mill and Winery. Route 9 was blocked off at around 10:00PM when the fire started last night.

Departments on the scene included District 3, City of Plattsburgh, Chazy and Beekmantown. Also West Chazy and South Plattsburgh fire departments were called to stand by at District 3 and Cumberland Head fire stations, aswell. E-M-TS also stood by on scene, no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

The family that owns the Mill says the fire destroyed all the wine currently being made, and about 1,500 cases of wine in total.

Authorities have given no word on a possible cause or whether or not the fire is suspicious. We will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
