LOGAN TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

Authorities in Huntingdon County confirmed with WJAC-TV that four people were found dead after a cabin fire near Petersburg early Friday morning.

State troopers said the blaze was reported near Diamond Valley Road in the Rothrock State Forest around 1 a.m. and that the cabin was destroyed by the blaze.

Department of Conservation and Natural Resources spokesman Terry Brady told WJAC-TV that one of the victims was a state forestry employee and that the cabin was owned by DCNR.

Officials with the coroner's office said autopsies were being performed Friday afternoon at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and that the intensity of the fire is making it difficult to identify the victims.

Police said two fire marshals and investigators from Huntingdon and Hollidaysburg spent about 15 hours combing the scene and trying to pinpoint a cause of the destructive blaze.
