MARIEMONT --

A pair of fires at a Mariemont plant resulted in the demise of an untold number of cookies.

Firefighters were first called to the Kellogg's plant at Trade Street and Wooster Pike around 9:30 p.m.

Officials said a new batch of chocolate chip cookies were being baked in a large oven when the oven caught fire. The fire was out by the time fire crews arrived.

But just before 1 a.m., firefighters were called back to the plant when a blower motor in a flue overheated, which caused part of a ceiling to catch fire.

Fire crews put out the fire within minutes.

No injuries were reported and damage was considered minimal.
