Massive Fire Destroys Missouri Grain Elevator

HOLDEN, Mo. -- A fire early Tuesday morning destroyed a grain elevator in Holden. KMBC's Brenda Washington reported that 65 firefighters from Holden, Lee's Summit, Sni-A-Valley and Warrensburg were helping fight the fire, which was reported about 2 a.m. No one was inside the structure. No injuries have been reported. Holden Fire Chief Larry Miller said fire consumed the grain elevator and a two-story building used to process the grain.

A fire early Tuesday morning destroyed a grain elevator in Holden.

KMBC's Brenda Washington reported that 65 firefighters from Holden, Lee's Summit, Sni-A-Valley and Warrensburg were helping fight the fire, which was reported about 2 a.m.

No one was inside the structure. No injuries have been reported.

Holden Fire Chief Larry Miller said fire consumed the grain elevator and a two-story building used to process the grain.

No firefighters have been hurt fighting the fire. Crews remain at the scene putting out hot spots.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
