KISSIMMEE, Fla. --

An Osceola County motel is continuing to burn after it went up in flames late Sunday night.

The fire is tearing through the Vacation Lodge Maingate on US Highway 192 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. The Florida Highway Patrol has closed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of West US Highway 192 at Reedy Creek Boulevard. The roadway is expected to be closed for most of the morning.

Firefighters have been on the scene for hours, battling the raging fire that quickly took the entire building with it.

"Were dumping large amounts of wire, hands lines, fire trucks everything we can to try to fight this fire and knock it down, said Deputy Chief Daniel McAvoy, of the Osceola County Fire Rescue.

The massive fire started around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in one of the rooms at the motel. Officials said those flames spread to about five other rooms.

Next thing I know someone come knocking on my door, saying the building is on fire," said resident, Robert Lewis.

It's not the first time the Vacation Lodge has had problems. WFTV has reported four situations where tenants have gone without power or water.

Earlier this month, people staying there were left in the dark when management didn't pay the power bill. Now, nearly 150 people staying and living at the motel have been displaced.

"I hope they find me somewhere to live," said Lewis.

A couple of people were treated for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries have been reported. Officials said they won't know what caused the fire until they are able to get inside the building, which won't be for a while.
