BALTIMORE --

Baltimore City firefighters battled an early-morning fire Sunday at an east Baltimore church where a burglary had occurred, according to police.

City fire crews responded just after 4 a.m. to the Greater Paradise Christian Center in the 2900 block of East Oliver Street. Officials said the fire was contained to one area of the church.

There were no injuries, and no one was inside the church at the time of the blaze. The majority of damage to the building was from smoke, officials said.

Because the fire was at a church, Alcohol, Fire and Tobacco officials were brought in to assist with the investigation. Dog sniffers were also brought to the scene.

City fire officials said the church has already received offers to hold services at two locations.

11 News has learned that the congregation was scheduled to have a Sunday afternoon service at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church on East Preston Street.
