A Greensboro firefighter saved a baby's life while he was on vacation in South Carolina on May 28, according to WGHP-TV.

Firefighter Dustin Jones was at Cherry Grove Beach with his family when a mother screamed for help after her 1-year-old baby, Zana Kersey, began choking on a cracker.

"There was a child lying on a towel and you could tell something was wrong. I picked her up and she was limp and her lips were blue," Jones told the news station.

He began doing back blows before turning the child over and performing chest compressions.

The child's mother, Britney, was grateful for the actions of the off-duty firefighter.

"I don't know what I would have done if he hadn't been there."
