FRENCH CAMP, Calif. --

The French Camp Fire District is considering reinstating a firefighter accused of having sex in a fire engine.

Firefighter Brandon Wilson was placed on administrative leave a year ago after being accused of sexual misconduct.

Residents have voiced opposition to his reinstatement.

He should not be with the fire department, said Checster Gish, a resident who has come to many of the board meetings where the issue has been discussed.

Fire district board members said they can't comment on the matter since it is a personnel issue.

It was standing room only Thursday night when the board met to discuss what action to take against Wilson.

It took more than an hour in closed session for the board to reach a decision.

All the allegations have been deemed to be unsubstantiated, Board Chairperson Brandon Burlingame announced to the crowd. A vote of three to one to reinstate Mr. Wilson.

The vote angered many residents.

Some told KCRA they are already considering a recall effort for the board.

Im frustrated, I dont think someone with his background should be working at the fire department, said Gish.
