Ariz. Man Arrested for Burning Tumbleweeds

COCONINO COUNTY, Ariz. -- Coconino County fire crews responded to a brush fire off Marys Drive in Doney Park on Wednesday afternoon. Deputies tracked down Juan Williams, 28, who , they said, admitted to starting a fire on his land to burn off tumbleweeds. Williams told investigators that after he started the fire, he walked back into his house to take a shower, leaving the fire unattended. When Wililams came back outside, he discovered his neighbors' property on fire and called 911.

COCONINO COUNTY, Ariz. --

Coconino County fire crews responded to a brush fire off Marys Drive in Doney Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies tracked down Juan Williams, 28, who , they said, admitted to starting a fire on his land to burn off tumbleweeds.

Williams told investigators that after he started the fire, he walked back into his house to take a shower, leaving the fire unattended.

When Wililams came back outside, he discovered his neighbors' property on fire and called 911.

Firefighters contained the fire to half an acre.

Williams was arrested on a charge of reckless burning and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office and Summit Fire Department would like to remind all residents that fire danger is ever present in the area even with the recent precipitation.
