Florida Crews Cut Semi in Attempted Rescue

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. -- A man died Wednesday in the back of a tractor-trailer after some 3,000-pound windows fell on him, according to Key Biscayne Fire Rescue. The incident happened in an 18-wheeler at Harbor Drive and Harbor Lane on Key Biscayne. Key Biscayne fire officials said the man was delivering windows to a vacant home. He was in the back of the 18-wheeler when two glass windows fell and crushed him, officials said.

A man died Wednesday in the back of a tractor-trailer after some 3,000-pound windows fell on him, according to Key Biscayne Fire Rescue.

The incident happened in an 18-wheeler at Harbor Drive and Harbor Lane on Key Biscayne.

Key Biscayne fire officials said the man was delivering windows to a vacant home. He was in the back of the 18-wheeler when two glass windows fell and crushed him, officials said.

Lt. Marcos Osorio, of Key Biscayne Fire Rescue, said the windows weighed about 3,000 pounds.

Firefighters cut a hole in the truck in the hope of rescuing the man, but he had already died, according to fire officials.

No other injuries were reported.
