HOUSTON --

A three-alarm fire destroyed part of a condominium building near the Galleria area about 5 a.m. Saturday.

The fire broke out at the condominiums on the 5100 block of Delmonte and Sage Road.

Nearly 100 firefighters helped fight the blaze. Burglar bars made it difficult for firefighters to enter the building, but fire crews were able to enter and started to fight the fire from the inside. They were later told to evacuate because the building was starting to collapse.

Houston Fire Department Assistant Chief Michelle McLeod said the fire may have started from a vehicle parked in a garage. The garage was located beneath one of the condominiums, which spread the flames, McLeod said.

McLeod said 10 units were destroyed. No one was hurt.
