GUTHRIE CENTER, Iowa --

A school bus from Carroll crashed Tuesday night in Guthrie County, sending more than two dozen Carroll Kuemper students to the hospital.

The bus was bringing the students home from a soccer game in Creston when the crash happened around 9 p.m. on Highway 25 north of Guthrie Center.

The Guthrie County sheriff told KCCI that a tractor pulling an anhydrous ammonia implement blew a tire, causing the tractor to drop its weights on the highway.

The bus hit the weights going full speed, officials said. The driver lost control and the bus went into the ditch and tipped onto its side.

Guthrie Center Fire and Rescue, Panora Rescue, the Guthrie County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol responded and helped get everyone out of the bus.

Twenty-three students, two coaches and the bus driver were all taken to the Guthrie County Hospital. All were treated and released with minor injuries, officials said.
