N.H. Firefighters Hospitalized in Engine Crash

Two Laconia firefighters were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after their engine collided with another vehicle.
Two Laconia firefighters were hospitalized after their engine collided with another vehicle, according to The Citizen.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. when Engine 5 -- which was responding to a call on Turner Way -- hit a Honda Ridgeline while trying to go around traffic.

It is not clear whether the fire engine had its lights and siren on, according to the report.

Lt. Timothy Woods and Firefighter Chris Beaudin were transported to Lakes Region General hospital for treatment. Woods suffered lower leg injuries while Beaudin's injuries were not specified. All injuries were considered minor.

The driver of the Ridgeline was uninjured.

Engine 5 sustained damage to its bumper, but was able to leave the scene under its own power.

Laconia police are investigating the crash.
