A Hillsborough County fire truck was damaged while crews battled an explosive blaze at a Tampa warehouse Saturday afternoon, according to The Tampa Tribune.

The fire at Electrical Engineering Enterprises at 6115 Hartford Street set off several explosions and sent up smoke that could be seen for miles.

"There was an explosion shortly after they arrived and they didn't have time to move the truck," Interim Assistant Chief David Travis told the newspaper.

There were no immediate estimates of the damage done to the rig.

About 40 units responded to the fire shortly after 3:30 p.m. and crews had the flames under control by nightfall.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
