SOUTH HAMPTON, N.H. --

A three alarm fire in South Hampton destroyed an RV camper and garage around 7 a.m. on Feb. 6.

Firefighters struggled with three major challenges including, difficulty getting water to the scene, icy conditions and ammunition stored on the property.

"The homeowner had a large amount of ammunition stored on the property which actually caused us to remove ourselves from the fire apparatus for a while and let the ammunition go off before we could continue fighting the fire," said Chief Andy Head with the South Hampton Fire Department.

Investigators aren't sure what sparked the blaze but think it started in a camper.

Flames eventually jumped to a nearby garage even after neighbors did all they could to keep it from spreading.

Crews contained the flames within an hour.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries.
