YORK COUNTY, Pa. --

Two people died in a house fire in York County Thursday morning.

The blaze started around 5:30 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of Rife Road in Washington Township.

An 76-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman were killed, state police said. They were siblings. Two dogs also died in the fire.

"I don't have any indication that any type of accelerant was smelled. However, the fire marshals are on scene and they're not going to rule out anything whether that be somebody saying they smelled the accelerant or not. That's something we'll explore and hopefully we'll come up with the cause and origin and be able to say what started this fire," State Police Trooper Tom Pinkerton said.

A neighbor spotted the flames and called 911.

Crews used heavy equipment to remove the home's metal roof. Part of the home collapsed and the remainder was demolished.

Autopsies on the victims are scheduled for Friday. Their names have not been released.
