FALLSTON, Md. --
A three-alarm fire caused $1.3 million in damage to a house in Harford County on Thursday afternoon.
According to the state fire marshal's office, 100 firefighters from several companies in Harford and Baltimore counties were called to 2008 Watervale Road in Fallston shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday for a fire burning a two-story wood-framed house. A neighbor discovered the fire and alerted authorities.
It took three hours for firefighters to gain control over the fire, which also caused $500,000 worth of damage to the property inside the house. A cause and the origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Fire officials said smoke detectors in the house were properly functioning. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
