BALTIMORE --

Baltimore City firefighters called to a fire late Sunday discovered a car inside a church.

Baltimore City Fire Department spokesman Kevin Cartwright released a statement saying that firefighters were called at about 11:20 p.m. to a church in the 2500 block of East Oliver Street. Cartwright said the name of the church was not immediately known.

Once firefighters extinguished the fire, they went inside the church to search for any possible victims. Firefighters found no one inside the vehicle or church, Cartwright said.

A building inspector was called out of concern for the building's integrity.

A cause of the fire remained under investigation overnight. It was not immediately known how the car got into the church.
