PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. --
Officials from several area agencies were in Prairie Grove at the scene of a massive fire that spread to between 15 to 20 acres.
The fire broke on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses told 40/29 several hay bales had caught fire and quickly spread.
The Wedington Fire Chief said they got a call for help around 2 p.m. Fire crews from Farmington, Prairie Grove and Wheeler were dispatched to the area to help get the fire under control. The chief said hay bale fires are difficult to put out because they're tightly compacted.
Those hay bales belonged to Hayden Bowling's Family. Bowling said he's going to keep a close eye on the bales tongiht.
"I can't wait till it's over and done with. No more fire," said Bowling.
Officials said several homes were threatened and one residence was evacuated. That resident is back in their home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
