Three N.H. Firefighters Injured in Blaze

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. --  Three firefighters were injured in a five-alarm fire in Portsmouth on Wednesday morning. The fire broke out at a building on Beechstone Road at about 3:30 a.m. About 14 to 18 people were displaced by the fire and were getting assistance from the Red Cross. Officials said three firefighters were injured. Two were taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, while the third was treated at the scene.

Three firefighters were injured in a five-alarm fire in Portsmouth on Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out at a building on Beechstone Road at about 3:30 a.m. About 14 to 18 people were displaced by the fire and were getting assistance from the Red Cross.

Officials said three firefighters were injured. Two were taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, while the third was treated at the scene.

Firefighters said that when they arrived, heavy fire could be seen coming from the second- and third-floor balconies. The building sustained fire and water damage in several apartment units.

The fire was brought under control in about two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
