Children Thrown From Burning N.C. House

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A neighbor said she saw children being thrown out of the windows of a burning house in Gastonia, where at least one person died and five others were hurt Thursday evening. Two victims were flown to a burn center. Three children, their parents and two grandparents lived in the house, according to police. "The fire ... was just everywhere," said Vivian Tate, a neighbor. "It was coming out the front door, out the windows. Glass was popping."

A neighbor said she saw children being thrown out of the windows of a burning house in Gastonia, where at least one person died and five others were hurt Thursday evening.

Two victims were flown to a burn center.

Three children, their parents and two grandparents lived in the house, according to police.

"The fire ... was just everywhere," said Vivian Tate, a neighbor. "It was coming out the front door, out the windows. Glass was popping."

Firefighters arrived at the home on Millon Street just before 9 p.m. Thursday.

There was no word Thursday evening about what may have caused the fire.
