PENBROOK, Pa. --

A longtime Dauphin County firefighter was arrested Wednesday on charges of stealing more than $100,000 from the Penbrook Fire Company.

Miles Hummer, 70, was arraigned in a Lower Paxton Township hospital bed where he is recovering from a serious medical condition, police said.

Police Chief David Hiester said Hummer was a life member of the Penbrook Fire Company and longtime treasurer.

Hummer is accused of taking $112,157.64 from the company's operating funds over 5 years.

He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
