The fire truck, with its lights and sirens on, was responding to a call of a reported building collapse when it was involved in a collision with an SUV, fire officials said.

The impact pushed both vehicles off the road and into the parking lot of a nearby Village Pantry, where Riddle's SUV hit a gas pump, causing a small leak.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The original building collapse call turned out to be a downed utility pole.
