DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. --

Channel 2 Action News investigative reporter Jodie Fleischer has just learned that one of the DeKalb County firefighters fired after a deadly house fire in Dunwoody will be reinstated.

Capt. Tony Motes appealed his firing at a hearing in March, saying he did not violate county policy when he failed to find an elderly woman who'd called 911 back in January.

Ann Bartlett, 74, died in a house fire just five hours later.

Motes and four other firefighters were fired for their handling of her earlier call.

Firefighters Jeff Greene and Sell Caldwell also have appeals pending.

Motes told Fleischer that he is "thrilled with the decision,"

Motes is hoping to finish out his time with the department and retire in May.
