DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. --

A fire at a DeKalb County apartment complex forced some residents to jump out windows to safety Friday morning.

The fire hit 18 units at the Park at Briarcliff apartments on Willow Lake Drive, leaving 12 heavily damaged.

Neighbors went door-to-door warning residents to get out. Some had to jump from their apartments.

"They said come out, come out and when I opened the door there was so much smoke I couldn't come out the front door and when I tried to get out the back door there was so much smoke I had to open up my front window and jump out the window," said Tyrone Little.

Firefighters said low water pressure at fire hydrants hampered their efforts to stop the fire from spreading.

No one was injured.
