Kansas Firefighter Hurt in 15-foot Fall

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A Kansas City firefighter was taken to a hospital after being injured while fighting a house fire. Crews said the man was inside a structure in the 1100 block of 34th Street when a railing gave way and he fell about 15 feet, injuring his side. Officials said the firefighter would be kept overnight for observation. The home sustained extensive damage in the fire. The cause is under investigation.

Crews said the man was inside a structure in the 1100 block of 34th Street when a railing gave way and he fell about 15 feet, injuring his side.

Officials said the firefighter would be kept overnight for observation. The home sustained extensive damage in the fire. The cause is under investigation.

The occupants were not home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross is helping them find a new place to stay.
