Violent Patient Locked in D.C. Ambo

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A man, possibly on PCP, was locked in an ambulance here Monday after becoming combative with medics.The patient was taken into custody, and arrested by D.C. Police, according to Pete Piringer, spokesman for D.C. Fire and EMS.The ambulance had responded to Q Street Monday morning for a sick person. Once in the ambulance, the patient became violent, he said."The crew took the keys, got out, locked the ambulance and called police," Piringer said, adding that the police were on the scene quickly.

The patient was taken into custody, and arrested by D.C. Police, according to Pete Piringer, spokesman for D.C. Fire and EMS.

The ambulance had responded to Q Street Monday morning for a sick person. Once in the ambulance, the patient became violent, he said.

"The crew took the keys, got out, locked the ambulance and called police," Piringer said, adding that the police were on the scene quickly.

The crew was not hurt. However, the ambulance was damaged, and taken out of service.
