About 100 firefighters from three departments contained a four-alarm fire in Glendale Monday night.

Firefighters said hundreds of wooden pallets, a few boats, cars and propane tanks were on fire.

The propane tanks set off several minor explosions.

The large fire sent huge plumes of black smoked filled with embers into the sky.

The flames could be seen several miles away, according to eyewitnesses.

Firefighters were called to the fire at about 7:40 p.m.

Firefighters said no crews were moved from the Fiesta Bowl to help battle the blaze on Bethany Home Road; however, Glendale did receive assistance from the Phoenix and Peoria fire departments.

Firefighters said they planned to stay at the scene overnight to make sure the fire was completely out.
