Neb. Firefighter Injured in Slip on Ice

A firefighter is recovering after being injured while fighting a fire in Bellevue.

Dispatchers said the first call for the fire came in at about 2 a.m. Sunday at a home near 26th Street and West Chandler Road.

Medics said the firefighter was injured after slipping on some ice.

According to investigators, the fire began in a truck outside the home and spread to the garage and kitchen area.

One person was inside but was able to get out safely, firefighters said.

Fire crews said they were able to put the fire out quickly because residents dug out their hydrants after the snowfall.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
