HOLLY HILL, Fla. --

Firefighters in Volusia County had to battle flames and venomous snakes in an early Saturday morning structure fire.

Fire crews from four different departments responded to the massive fire on State Avenue in Holly Hill just before 4:00 a.m. Along with flames, firefighters found several cobra snakes in the storage unit.

We baked out of the unit and called a licensed snake handler to remove them. It didnt cause a delay in knocking down the fire, but it did delay our overhaul and searches

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were shooting through the roof of the building.

The building houses several different businesses and a storage unit. Two businesses and a storage unit were severely damaged in the fire. The worst damage was done to the Auto Repair and Custom Shop.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
