Iowa Family Rescued From Roof

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- A Council Bluffs family was rescued from the roof of their burning apartment building early Monday. Firefighters were called to 5th Avenue and North 7th Street to a house that had been converted into eight apartments. Crews found a family on the roof of the house and smoke in the second and third floors. There was a fire burning in the stairwell of the building. Assistant Council Bluffs Fire Chief John Wickman said firefighters assisted the family down from the roof.

A Council Bluffs family was rescued from the roof of their burning apartment building early Monday.

Firefighters were called to 5th Avenue and North 7th Street to a house that had been converted into eight apartments.

Crews found a family on the roof of the house and smoke in the second and third floors. There was a fire burning in the stairwell of the building.

Assistant Council Bluffs Fire Chief John Wickman said firefighters assisted the family down from the roof.

No one was hurt in the incident and damage was limited to the stairwell.
