2 Dead 1 Missing In Hawaii House Fire

Witnesses said the flames could be seen from miles away as the blaze lit up the night sky.

MAKIKI, Hawaii --

Fire officials said two people are dead and one is missing after an overnight blaze at a house in Makiki Thursday.

The intense blaze on Mauna Place above Roosevelt High School occurred at about 12:20 a.m., KITV reported.

Witnesses said the flames could be seen from miles away as the blaze lit up the night sky.

Authorities said there were eight people within the home when the fire started.

Officials said seven fire companies and 40 firefighters battled the blaze until 6 a.m. in order to bring it under control

The identity of the victim's has not been released.

Family members of the homeowners told KITV that they believe one of the tenants started the fire and said she was arguing before the start of the blaze.

Police would not comment on the accusations and fire investigators are at the scene still trying to determine the cause.
