EPHRATA, Pa. --

Employees at the American LaFrance facility in Ephrata, Lancaster County, found out Monday that the plant will close by the end of next month and they're losing their jobs.

AFL makes fire trucks and Bob Bord, of Akron, has been a welder there for eight years.

He believes the owner, Patriarch Partners, isn't putting money into the company.

"They blamed it on the economy and maybe it is the economy, but to me it's that they wouldn't give us any money to operate with," said Bord.

ALF officials sent a statement to News 8 that said they're seeing a big decline in orders for fire trucks, leaving them no choice but to consolidate operations.
