BLACKSBURG, S.C. --

A Blacksburg firefighter was injured when the fire truck he was driving wrecked on Cherokee Street.

The firefighter, Christopher C. Vaughn, was transported to Upstate Medical Center for treatment. There is no word on the extent of the injuries Vaughn suffered.

South Carolina Higway Patrol told News 4 the fire truck was responding to a fire call on Batchelor Drive in the Cherokee Falls area of Cherokee County.

Highway patrol said Vaughn was the only one in the truck when the crash occurred. Vaughn was wearing his seat belt.

Troopers said other firefighters had to extricate Vaughn from the fire truck.

Cpl. Brian McDougald of the highway patrol said the truck was traveling south on Cherokee Street at about 40-45 MPH with its lights and sirens on.

The truck hit some standing water in the road, causing the truck to hydroplane.

The truck then ran off the right side of the road and flipped over.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said no charges have been filed in the wreck. The wreck is still under investigation.
