WALHALLA, S.C. --

Firefighters say they got a call about a fire at the St. Luke Methodist Church around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The church is located on East Main Street in Walhalla.

Firefighters say when they arrived on the scene there was extremely heavy smoke in the church's basement and in the back of the sanctuary.
