One Killed in Massachusetts House Fire

Firefighters from five towns responded to a deadly home fire in Franklin Friday night.

Firefighters from five towns responded to a deadly home fire in Franklin Friday night.

According to the State Fire Marshals Office, at about 11:12 p.m., a reported explosion at 652 Old West Central St. engulfed the kitchen of a two-story, single-family home, killing one person.

The victim has not been yet identified.

Investigators from the Franklin Fire Department believe the fire started in the kitchen area. They are looking into reports of an explosion at the scene.

The kitchen and the room above it were heavily damaged by the flames. The rest of the house sustained moderate smoke and heat damage.

Firefighters from Bellingham, Milford, Norfolk and Wrentham assisted the Franklin Fire Department at the scene of the fire.
