AURORA, Ind. --

Two firefighters were injured early Thursday morning while fighting a fire in Aurora, Ind.

The firefighters were called to a house fire at 12:28 a.m. While they fought the fire inside the home, the roof collapsed on top of them.

Firefighters Les Bruce and Chris Roush were taken to Dearborn County Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries to their necks, heads and backs.

Damage to the home was estimated at $50,000. Investigators said a smoke detector inside the home did not activate because it did not have batteries.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
