Man Seriously Burned Escaping Calif. RV Fire

OCEAN BEACH, Calif. -- A man was hospitalized Thursday morning with serious burn injuries following a fire in Ocean Beach. When firefighters arrived at Bacon Street and Newport Avenue at 3:15 a.m. they found the mans recreational vehicle fully engulfed. A nearby power pole and connecting power lines also caught fire. Fire crews were able to douse the flames out within 15 minutes. The man suffered serious burns while trying to escape from the RV.

OCEAN BEACH, Calif. --

A man was hospitalized Thursday morning with serious burn injuries following a fire in Ocean Beach.

When firefighters arrived at Bacon Street and Newport Avenue at 3:15 a.m. they found the mans recreational vehicle fully engulfed.

A nearby power pole and connecting power lines also caught fire.

Fire crews were able to douse the flames out within 15 minutes.

The man suffered serious burns while trying to escape from the RV.

He was found a block away after he ran down the road with his clothing on fire.

The man is being treated at the UCSD Medical Center Burn Unit.

Investigators have not released a cause for the fire but said candles were found inside the RV and it does not appear to be suspicious.
