North Carolina Lieutenant Dies Following Apparent Heart Attack

The 27-year fire department veteran was on duty Jan. 18 when he began to experience chest pains.

Raleigh, N.C. Lt. Herman S. Jones died Jan. 22 after suffering an apparent heart attack, according to press release from the city.

The 27-year fire department veteran was on duty Jan. 18 when he began to experience chest pains. Jones was transported to Wake Medical Center and then to UNC Hospital.

Jones began his career with the department in 1980 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2001.

Funeral Information

Visitation for Lt. Jones will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at Juniper Level Baptist Church, 9104 Sauls Road in Raleigh, N.C.

Burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
