Second-degree attempted murder charges were filed Monday in Cass County against a man accused of shooting a volunteer firefighter.

Firefighter Rodger Alley was one of four Ashland volunteer firefighters who responded to reports of a brush fire near Horseshoe Lake on Wednesday. According to the Cass County sheriff, firefighters told the owner of the property, Stanley Bjorkman, 58, that he would receive a citation on suspicion of illegal burning.

Alley was shot in the arm.
