BALTIMORE --

At least one Baltimore firefighter has been injured while fighting a four-alarm fire at a city church, officials said.

Fire officials said a fire broke out in the steeple of the First Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Church at 811 W. Saratoga St. around 3 p.m. Tuesday. The blaze quickly spread throughout the building, and the steeple began to collapse.

Fire spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright said one firefighter was taken to a local hospital with a leg injury.

Officials said they believe the fire may have been started by a lightning strike.

About 80 firefighters and paramedics are still at the scene.
