Pennsylvania Firefighter Dies of Heart Attack

Lt. Robert H. Hegney, 53, died Saturday of a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for a volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania who died Saturday of a heart attack.

Lt. Robert H. Hegney, 53, of the Se-Wy-Co Volunteer Fire Company in Bethlehem, had been at a dwelling fire on Feb.1, and later participated in a training drill.

He told fellow firefighters that he was not feeling well, and was transported to the hospital with flu-like symptoms. Hegney was being transferred for a heart procedure when he went into cardiac arrest and died, according to the USFA.

So far this year, 12 firefighters have died while on duty serving their communities.
